hummingbird

hi avid readers! i thought i'd write something for April 'coz i don't want to leave it blank. i'm sharing you my dream guitar - gibson hummingbird.

the gibson hummingbird was first introduced in 1960. the vintage guitars are still available for sale and they cost a lot. that destroys my dream to ever acquire one, haha. what drawn me into its style is its unique shape of pick guard and the humming bird artwork.

i had a plan to buy an acoustic guitar ever since, so i thought why not find a maker that can produce a guitar of my own design. i did found one, with a help of a friend. i spent a lot of time looking for pickguards on ebay and found one, yey! the package is on its way here, so i'm hoping it wouldn't look cheap.

been up to..

March is a cold month here. It's much colder knowing you're away from your comforts, friends, foods that you love, etc. Making the most out of what is here is a big thing. Making use of heater for example to keep you warm is essential. Plotting out what you wear the next day because you only packed few blouses and jeans. Having to do your laundry once in while just to make sure you'll have socks, undies to wear the next day. Stores are pretty far from each other, having a car is like having a cellphone here. Friends - I observe many people from work that they don't go out with friends or people that they work with. Maybe because they're all not so young, they are more family oriented. For people like me (single), this kind of set up is hard. I can't survive weekends going out alone and if I do, I make sure I'm going some place where I can see people and actually engage into chitchats. I'm making "finding friends" a task that I could work on while I'm here. My counterparts are really nice people, they are all married and have families. So they don't stay late in the office or go to some bar have drinks, eat out, see movie with co-workers, they just head home. How sweet and simple life is here! I'm happy though that they are doing stuff that hasn't been done in a while like dinner at home with the team. I'm excited to go next week. I just got invited yesterday, a dinner that it is intended to welcome me I guess. Now I get to see how they do it, spouses are also invited, haha so this should be fun. I could like be their daughter for my age. I love my team.

Tomorrow, I'm going to run with Alicia. A friend that my counterpart introduced me to. Last monday we had our first run around the company's compound. Went around it and the park for 40min. I saw squirrels, robins, and at the park they had basketball court, soccer field, children's play ground. I thought I would not sweat out at 5 deg. C. It was not until the 15min mark that I started to get warmed up and my sweat just felt so cold on my neck! We're gonna do it again this Thursday and if she didn't forget about buying me dinner, to some place I have not eaten yet, I might just get lucky!

Meeting is up 15min from now. This is it for me today.
